Running low on ideas to keep your kiddos entertained? We feel you. Following your lead, we’ve been hunting ideas to help keep the fambam from epic boredom. Take a look at these kid-friendly activities and resources for your current homebound status.

Ahh Children. Your optimistic offspring. Your proud progeny. Your chips off the old block. Each weekday morning finds you handing over your precious kiddiewinks to their angelic teachers. For around 6 hours or so, your beautiful bambinos will broaden their horizons with academics while you get your work done. With Spring Break 2020 morphing into school closures a la COVID-19, you and yours may suddenly be spending quality time together – tucked within the confines of your house.

If the natives are growing restless, you have probably heard more than your fair share of complaining. Honestly. It is truly a tragedy that your kin are not able to hang with their friends. The very concept of social distancing seems like an untenable punishment. Such a big meanie by making your kiddos follow guidelines that keep them in good health and out of risk? Oh my!

Thankfully, by the grace of God and by maxing out your in-home WiFi connection, your tech-savvy crew are blissfully finding some level of entertainment online via their choice of devices. Along with their regular social media haunts, your star students may have been given links to complete schoolwork online or even attend online classes. With that in mind, if you are looking for a little more to keep your children’s hamsters turning their wheels, you might want to check in with your local library for educational website suggestions.

Additionally, a quick online search can turn up links to a variety of online learning opportunities. From language lessons to coding and design, think about which courses might be the best fit for your busy bees.

o   Build a blanket fort  - Add in flashlights for reading a book

o   Be an architect of a marshmallow & toothpick tower

o   Blow cotton swabs through a straw

o   Write a song - Bonus points if it includes a musical instrument

o   Write a story  - Either funny or sad or both

o   Create a comic book - The world needs a new Marvel hero

o   Make a paper airplane and create a landing zone - (Be careful if inside)

o   Practice drawing or decorate color book pages - These masterpieces could be sent to residents in a nursing home, or, as a thank you to those working at the local hospital

o   Play with sidewalk chalk (outside)

o   Learn a card game

o   Learn the alphabet in sign language

o   Find something around the house that could be re-purposed into something new
