It’s definitely the season to open up a bottle of your favorite wine and share with your loved ones… or just yourself… that’s okay too! To up your sipping game this summer, we’ve found this cute and easy craft. Plus, it’s easy to do in groups, so grab your friends and neighbors and have fun with it.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Multi-surface acrylic enamel paint

  • Decorating tools

    • Paintbrushes

    • Masking tape

  • Oven

The best part about this DIY project is that the design is yours and yours alone– no two glasses will come out looking the same and really depends upon your interpretation of summer, and which kinds of summer botanical scenes you might want to adorn your cup with.

Here are three design ideas for your painted wine glasses:

  1. Simple Flower and Stem

Even just a basic outline of your favorite flower can look chic and minimalist if you want it to. Note that the glass stem is painted green to further the illusion of the flower.

  1. Desert Scene

Cactuses come in all shapes, sizes, and colors so this theme is a gold mine of inspiration and beauty! Challenge yourself and paint a different cactus all the way around the glass, or choose a cool summer palette. The other interesting thing to look out for is that you can layer the paint on the inside of the glass so that there are two different perspectives inside and outside of the glass. The possibilities are endless and the end design is stunning.

  1. Summer Time Citrus

Whether you’re more of a lime, lemon, grapefruit, or orange fan, these tangy fruits serve as inspiration for a funky and summery theme. They just look refreshing!

Okay, so now you’ve got your theme or inspiration locked down– what’s next?

  1. Paint your design

  2. Allow glasses to dry for 24 hours so that all liquid possible is dried

Next, you can “cure” your painted design so that it is food-and-dishwasher safe. Paint can cure if left for 21 days, but it still wouldn’t be dishwasher safe. That’s where the oven comes in.

  1. Place the wine glass in the cold oven, set it to 350 degrees, and then allow the glass to heat up with the oven to prevent shattering.

  2. Once the oven reaches 350 degrees, let the glass bake for 30 minutes.

  3. At 30 minutes, turn the oven off and leave the glass inside the oven with the door open. Only remove it after it has cooled all the way.

Voila! You have a beautiful summer-themed hand-painted wine glass that will make you stand out at any get-together. Using this method, your glass should be ready to wash in 72 hours.Enjoy!
