Where To Shop in San Antonio | October 2026 Guide

Whether you're looking for a new outfit, home décor, gifts, local crafts, or a good bargain, San Antonio offers plenty of shopping options.

From major shopping centers and open-air lifestyle destinations to local markets and outlet malls, you can find everything from national brands to unique San Antonio finds.

If you're new to the city after a PCS or simply looking for somewhere different to shop this October, here's a guide to some of the area's shopping destinations.

🛍️ The Shops at La Cantera

The Shops at La Cantera

Located on San Antonio's Northwest Side, The Shops at La Cantera is one of the city's major open-air shopping destinations.

You'll find a mix of fashion, beauty, dining, entertainment, and specialty retailers, making it easy to turn a shopping trip into a full day out.

It's particularly convenient for families living in or around the Northwest Side, Stone Oak, and other nearby communities.

👗 North Star Mall

North Star Mall

North Star Mall is a long-standing San Antonio shopping destination located along San Pedro Avenue.

The mall features a wide range of retailers, restaurants, and services, making it a convenient option when you want the traditional indoor mall experience.

It's also recognizable for the giant cowboy boots outside the mall — one of San Antonio's iconic roadside landmarks.

🌵 Historic Market Square

Historic Market Square

For a shopping experience that's distinctly San Antonio, head to Historic Market Square.

The market is known for Mexican-inspired art, clothing, souvenirs, jewelry, handcrafted items, décor, and local products.

It's a great place to pick up gifts or something unique that you won't necessarily find at a traditional shopping mall.

Pair your shopping trip with Mexican food, snacks, and a walk through downtown for a full afternoon experience.

🛍️ The Shops at Rivercenter

🏷️ San Marcos Premium Outlets

San Marcos Premium Outlets

If you're willing to take a day trip outside San Antonio, San Marcos is a major destination for outlet shopping.

The San Marcos Premium Outlets offer a large collection of designer and brand-name retailers at outlet prices.

San Antonio's official tourism organization also highlights the San Marcos Premium Outlets and nearby Tanger Outlets as major shopping destinations north of the city.

For serious bargain hunters, it's worth setting aside several hours rather than trying to squeeze the outlets into a quick shopping trip.

🏷️ Tanger Outlets San Marcos

Located close to the Premium Outlets, Tanger Outlets gives shoppers another option for outlet shopping in the San Marcos area.

If you're making the drive from San Antonio, consider visiting both outlet centers during the same trip.

🏡 Alamo Quarry Market

Alamo Quarry Market is located in the Alamo Heights area and combines shopping, restaurants, and entertainment in a distinctive setting.

The shopping center is built around the historic Quarry Market area, giving it a different atmosphere from a traditional enclosed mall.

It's a good option for shoppers who want to browse stores and grab dinner without spending the entire day inside a mall.

October 2026 update: Coach is preparing to open a new location at Alamo Quarry Market, with construction expected to wrap up around mid-October.

🛒 San Antonio Marketplace

For shoppers who prefer smaller businesses and specialty finds, The Alley on Bitters offers a different experience from the city's major malls.

It's a good option when you're looking for local businesses, unique products, and a more neighborhood-oriented shopping experience.

👚 A New Marshalls Is Coming to San Antonio

October 2026 brings a new shopping option to San Antonio's Northeast Side.

A new Marshalls location is scheduled to open at Windsor Park Center on October 8, 2026, at 8680 Fourwinds Drive.

The 24,000-square-foot store will carry discounted brand-name merchandise across categories including clothing, shoes, accessories, beauty, home, kids, and pet products.

For bargain shoppers, this is one new store to add to the October calendar.

♻️ A New Thrift Shopping Option

If you enjoy secondhand shopping, October 2026 also brings a new option to San Antonio.

Arc Thrift Stores is opening its first Texas location at 5776 Stemmons Drive, with a preview on October 5 and a grand opening on October 8.

Shop → grab lunch → explore the neighborhood → enjoy dinner

San Antonio's shopping scene includes much more than traditional malls, so exploring different areas can also help you discover neighborhoods you might not otherwise visit.
